The 2011 Championship provided yet more on track battles and saw the youngest ever rider crowned British champion. Kyle Ryde at just 14 years and 3 months old took the title at the final round by just 2 points from Wayne Ryan. Eight of the top ten championship finishers were aged 16 or under with the class

2012 will see the introduction of Moto3 machines within the Monster Energy Motostar British Championship however most teams will choose to remain with 125GP bikes ensuring this class remains the last bastion of two stroke power for young rider development.

This year Ryde looks set to contest the Spanish Moto3 and selected rounds of the British championship along with the MotoGP Rookies Cup. Tarran Mackenzie became one of the first preseason signings with a new Redline KTM partnership, Luke Hedger fourth in 2011 returns with FPW Racing and club stars progressing such as Aprilia Superteen winner Joe Francis and MRO Superteen Rookies runner up Oliver Fitz-Patrick.

The class is closely watched by some of the major players not only in the UK but also further afield with riders also competing in the MotoGP Rookies Cup in 2011. Once again the ACU Academy Cup class will distinguish 13-16 year old riders with an end of season prize of paid entries to the final two rounds of the CEV (Spanish) Championship.
